Staff Accountant (44066)

The position is responsible for ensuring VAB departmental account reconciliations are completed timely and accurately.  Position will assist in the preparation and review of the financial statements on a monthly basis with emphasis on expense and flux analysis.​ Position will support business plan preparation activities. Will also assist the external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

What you’ll do:

  • Reviews analyses completed by departmental managers, challenging and documenting the logic associated with reserve adjustment decisions.
  • Responsible for preparation and/​or coordination of monthly reconciliations of key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles various VAB related P & L reports.
  • Reviews and analyzes period expenses and review of monthly accruals.
  • Assists in preparation of reporting requirements including SOX requirements, design and testing; reviews documentation with management in order to ensure the documentation is kept current and supports the process flow and applicable controls.
  • Prepares and uploads journal entries into accounting system.
  • Fixed asset ledger maintenance and reporting.
  • Supports managers and directors with daily financial responsibilities as well as high level accounting issues and special projects.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of GAAP; shares knowledge with team members as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance;  MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 4 - 6 years’ experience of progressive experience with a mixture of public/private preferred.
  • Demonstrates experience with general ledger account reconciliations including month end closing processes and general knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Experience with multi-currency, international organizations.
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus (Oracle Fusion).
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • A high proficiency with Excel spread sheets and pivot tables, including Tableau reporting.
  • Strong use and understanding of accounting systems.
  • Team oriented person who can focus on the details.
  • Ability to deal effectively with tight month-end closing process.
  • Well-developed problem-solving capabilities.
